Overcoming Testing Limitations with a Flexible Dynamometer Solution

Weidemann, a manufacturer of wheelloaders, faced a limitation in their testing capabilities. Without access to a properly functioning dynamometer, vehicles had to be tested outdoors along the industrial estate. This resulted in inconsistent conditions, low repeatability, and inefficiencies in validating vehicle performance across different scenarios.

Additionally, the diversity in their vehicle range varying wheelbases, track widths, and weights made standardized testing extremely difficult.

Advanced dyno for Reliable Vehicle Validation

Where it is important that the system delivers reliable measurements, is highly feasible, and that the dyno is capable of testing the full range of vehicles. The main challenge was the large variation in wheelbase, track width, and vehicle weight.

Customized software

Specific software has been developed, and the control system is unique to this dyno. The vehicle can operate autonomously on the dynamometer, allowing it to run 24/7 in fixed test cycles.  A wide variety of conditions can be simulated, such as driving uphill, descending slopes, or situations the vehicle may encounter when used by end users in the field.
