Engine Test Cell for the Future of Flying Mobility

For an innovative manufacturer developing flying vehicles, we designed and realized a fully autonomous mobile engine test facility. This unique project combined advanced engineering, mobility, and custom-built testing technology in one integrated solution.

The client’s request was clear: develop a high-performance mobile test setup for the combustion engine of a flying vehicle platform. To achieve this, a fully equipped 40 ft container was transformed into a standalone test cell capable of operating independently under controlled conditions.

Custom-Built 40 ft Container Test Facility

The mobile test cell was engineered as a complete plug-and-play testing environment. The container was divided into three dedicated sections:

  • Machine room
  • Engine test cell
  • Operator room

Each area was specifically designed to ensure safety, efficiency, and optimal testing conditions. Special attention was given to acoustic insulation through the integration of soundproof walls and vibration-reducing construction methods, creating a safe and controlled working environment.

Advanced Infrastructure for Engine Testing

A major part of the project involved developing the complete technical infrastructure from the ground up. This included:

  • Cooling systems and piping
  • Fuel supply systems
  • Electrical integration
  • Safety systems
  • Control architecture

All systems were engineered specifically for the customer’s application and operational requirements. The result is a reliable and scalable testing environment suitable for intensive engine development and validation.

Intelligent HMI Control with Customer-Specific Software

The entire installation is operated through an advanced HMI (Human Machine Interface) equipped with fully customer-specific software. This allows operators to easily monitor, control, and automate all testing processes from a central interface.

The intelligent control system enables efficient data acquisition, real-time monitoring, and autonomous operation of the test cell, ensuring maximum reliability and repeatability during engine testing.
